Transit Lounge is pleased to announce that it has sold North American and UK rights to A. S. Patrić’s 2016 Miles Franklin Literary Award winner Black Rock White City to Melville House, New York.
The deal was brokered by Daniel Lazar at Writers House literary agency, and publication in both markets is scheduled for the second half of 2017.
Transit Lounge is excited a ‘spirited independent with profile’ picked up the book. ‘’Editors at Melville commented that they had trouble calling to mind a more taut novel that managed to be both suspenseful and heartfelt … We are confident that Melville will really get behind the book and bring an international readership to Alec Patrić’s emotionally powerful and lyrical writing.’
Author Patrić commented that ‘no publisher in America better personifies literary integrity and the spirit of independent publishing, so I’m elated, and I feel honoured that Melville House will be publishing Black Rock White City.’
Transit Lounge holds world rights to the title, and has also recently sold Slovenian rights to MIŠ založba and world audio rights (excluding North America) to Wavesound.
